The inaugural Angels Catwalk for SickKids event hosted by Ashley’s Angels on Thursday, November 21st was a tremendous success, raising over $280,000 for SickKids Transplant Centre.
The evening started with an incredible silent auction surrounded by the delicacies of some of Toronto’s top restaurants & caterers. Guests were able to enjoy a scotch tasting while learning about the distillation process before sitting down for a complimentary mini-manicure.
The stunning fashions captured the audience before the star studded catwalk was taken over by our donor catwalk teams. Our donor teams, consisting of a transplant recipient and their donor, along with Dr. Avitzur from the SickKids Transplant team, raised $18,000 for the opportunity to walk the catwalk.
The highlight of the night came when six year old liver transplant recipient, Ashley Logan, donated her piggy bank savings so that, with the generosity of our guests and the Hospital for Sick Children, we were able to purchase a FibroScan for SickKids machine valued at $195,000. This new technology provides a painless, quick, and easy way for doctors to assess and monitor the liver in babies and children who have undergone a solid organ transplant. It can also be used to diagnosing new liver conditions.
The evening continued with fantastic entertainment by Juno nominee Suzie McNeil and the Shawn Brady trio.
The support received played a critical and valuable role in our successes. We can’t thank you enough.
